Titanic's Victims, The Lost & The Saved
Belfast
Belfast was the birthplace of Titanic but during her construction she ended the lives of 8 men; 6 died on her during construction and fitting out, and 2 in the shipyard workshops and sheds.
Here are the only names I could find;
Samuel Joseph Scott - 15 years - Catch Boy - The first person to die on Titanic, Samuel tragically fell from a ladder high up the side of SS401 to his death, on Wednesday, April 20th 1910. He was found by a workmate on the ground bleeding and motionless, the coroner stated the cause of death was shock from a fracture of the skull.
John Kelly - 19 years - Heater Boy
William Clarke - 27 years - Driller
Robert James Murphy - age not specified - Rivet Counter
Also, just before the launch a worker, James Dobbin - age not specified - Shipwright, was killed when a piece of wood, one of the supports fell right down on top of him. He lasted the night but succumbed to his injuries the day after Titanic's launch.
A total of 246 injuries were recorded in the three years taken to build her, with 28 of them labelled "severe", which would be instances of arms or legs severed by machines or being crushed under falling pieces of steel.
